STAFFORD, VA (FEBRUARY 12, 2024)The new original documentary film, THE THIN BLACK LINE, examines the emotional and challenging situations local African American Law Enforcement Officers face as the cost of being black behind the badge in suburban America.

The insightful 81-minute film is directed by actor-filmmaker Jim Klock, who also produces along with community leader-activist Vernon Green Jr. and Sheriff D.P. Decatur of Stafford, Virginia, and is currently available worldwide on all major streaming platforms from Global Digital Releasing.

THE THIN BLACK LINE delivers honest and unbiased insight from African American officers serving on the front lines just 35 miles south of our nation’s capital in Stafford, Virginia. With unprecedented access to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and its personnel, the film strives not only to help bridge the gap between minorities and law enforcement officers throughout America, but also within this local department. Focused on topics currently dominating our news outlets and social media, it showcases comprehensive and impassioned interviews from multiple male and female officers, sharing what being African American and a police officer means to them, especially during this volatile time in America where public tensions over racism have divided the public over the trust in American Policing.

Klock, a decorated veteran police officer who still serves as a part-time deputy sheriff with the Stafford Sheriff’s department, explains “My goal was to give a few of these officers the opportunities to open the eyes and hearts of people in America of what it looks like when these officers who are minorities first, who deal with racism and injustice themselves choose to put on a uniform and put themselves in harm’s way to make the communities and our world a better place.”

“Since George Floyd, and countless other tragedies, many minorities have left law enforcement. At the same time, it is very difficult to recruit minorities into the field,” shares Green, founder of Virginia based non-profit G3 Community Services. “I believe the answer to police reform is not less, but more minority representation in law enforcement, particularly in leadership positions. I hope this film, will help recruit our next generation of law enforcement with a renewed passion and commitment to community.”
